2018 end of year review

Fun plays a huge part in my photography. Well, thats what a lot of my couples tell me anyway! And I like to think a lot of this end of year slideshow portrays how I capture all the happiness I see at weddings.

Putting together a slideshow at the end of the year is never easy. Mainly as I have SO many fun and creative shots I want to feature. Anna and I delivered over 40,000 images to couples this year, so choosing just three minutes worth of photos to show was really tough! What you’re about to watch is only a tiny selection of images that make me smile when I look at them… Just as much now as when I saw them happen in front of me.

To every couple that asked me to shoot their wedding this year, THANK YOU!

Thank you for booking me, trusting me, and just allowing me to rock up on your special day and just do my thing. Even after 20+ years of doing this I still continue to find shooting weddings a hugely interesting and fun experience. And when I get to spend so much time with couples that genuinely get excited about seeing what I see, it really does mean the world to me.

(And if you like this slideshow… you can check out a couple more of my previous years slideshows too… 2017 and 2016)

Northamptonshire village hall wedding photography - Steph and Matt

Branding myself as a photographer for fun and carefree couples has never suited a couple more than these guys! Steph + Matt live in a motorhome, travel the world in the winter months, and teach people to surf back here in the UK in the summer months. Yep, they've pretty much got chillin' and living life to the full sorted!

A couple of months before the wedding I headed down to Cornwall to see their place on wheels they call home, and also get to know them a little better. Heading out for their pre-wedding shoot we weren't quite as lucky as we have been over the past few weeks weather-wise. As you can see from their shoot here, it was a tad foggy... or as I like to call it "atmospheric!"

Fast forward to their wedding day and they were greeted with much sunnier and pleasant weather at their wedding venue in Northamptonshire.

Hitched in a pub, reception in a village hall, and a good old knees up party in the evening... this countryside wedding setting had it all!

Steph + Matt, I loved shooting your wedding SO much. Thanks again for booking me, and letting me snap away documenting your wedding day and all the fun.

“A-m-a-z-i-n-g! We knew from the first moment we saw Ed's website that we wanted him to photograph our wedding. We were looking for someone creative, fun and passionate about capturing magical moments, and thats exactly what we got! From our first email exchange he made us feel totally relaxed, gave us excellent advice and we felt a genuine connection.

It was an absolute pleasure to have Ed photographing our big day, he felt like a part of the family and captured everything perfectly!

We can't thank you enough for giving us life long memories and documenting the best day ever! We would absolutely recommend!”

Alex and Nick - a sunny Derbyshire wedding in a tipi

"I just wanted to say a big thank you for being our perfect photographer - keeping the formal photos relaxed and fun and for never making Nick and I feel under pressure."

I love Spring weddings. The crisp mornings, the sunny afternoons (sometimes), and the fresh evenings! Luckily for Alex and Nick they struck gold with the weather on their big day last month. Beautiful blue skies for most of the day, followed by a cosy warm tipi reception in the afternoon. And, as you'll see from the photos, it got even hotter when the evening celebrations kicked off and the guests hit the dance floor!
