Nottingham wedding photography - Kayleigh and Bernie

Last month I photographed Kayleigh + Bernie getting married up here in Nottinghamshire. These guys really deserved the amazing weather they had on their big day. Such a cute, kind, and super-friendly couple, that were beaming with smiles all day long.

"Both Kayleigh and I want to thank you for capturing our day so perfectly!  Choosing the right person to photograph our wedding was really important to us and right from the first time we met you for our pre-wedding shoot in the Lake District, your calm, friendly, and professional approach made us feel totally relaxed!

The candid, magical moments you managed to catch blew us away.  So many of our family and friends were impressed with how professional and friendly you were; it was almost like you were another one of our guests on the day! We love the fact that we can share the HI-RES images with friends and family for them to download from your website and the way in which the photos were presented in your gift box which came through the post was just perfect.

Thanks again, Ed.  We will have no hesitation in recommending you to any of our family or friends who will be getting married in the future!"

Nottinghamshire pre-wedding shoot - Claire and Alex

Having a pre-wedding shoot is always a great way to settle any nerves you may have about having your photo taken on your wedding day. Even better if you can bring along your pet pooch and your cute little girl along for some family photos too. However, I think Baxter and Arielle were just there to provide a cute distraction from all the attention being on Claire and Alex.

It doesn't bother me though. I love it when couples want their kids or pets to join them on their pre-wedding/engagement shoot. Plus... don't they make the most attractive family? And yes, I am including Baxter in that!

I've known these guys since my days working on a photography magazine, and really can't wait to photograph them getting married at their stunning wedding venue near Rutland Water in the summer.

Northampton Wedding Photography at Dodmoor House - Helen and Jordan

Sunshine... blues skies... and plenty of smiles... this March wedding had the weather of a hot summers day.

Helen and Jordan booked my half day package, but looking back at the images in this blog, I really feel like I captured a thorough story of the day, despite only being there for 5 hours!

York wedding photography - Lisa and Sean

Lisa and Sean had a very small and intimate city wedding, surrounded by their closest family and friends in York. Its been a while since I've shot a bride that wasn't wearing a white dress, and Lisa looked fantastic in her stunning blue wedding outfit. And on a Spring day that had a bit of a chill in the air, the colour definitely suited the day!

London pre-wedding shoot - Julia and Joe

Rain, wind, sunshine, and all the colours of spring. This pre-wedding shoot in Putney had the lot!

I can't wait to photograph Julia and Joe getting hitched at their venue overlooking the Thames this summer.

On a day that had a mixture of weather conditions, this lovely London couple didn't stop smiling whatever the English weather was chucking at them.

Winter wedding at West Mill in Derbyshire - Tess and Chris

"Hey Ed, We've managed to look through all the photos now.... They are just awesome. It's so amazing to have the story of our special day captured in print forever. They've brought back so many happy memories (& created a few new ones! ;-)) of the best day of our lives. Thank you for your dedication & hard work pre, during & post wedding. We both agreed that booking you was the best wedding decision we made (other than each other!)." - Tess + Chris

The Great Tythe Barn in Tetbury wedding photography - Charlotte and Mike

When the bride is a photographer, getting a thank you card as lovely as this means the world to me...

"Ed, we can't thank you enough for being our photographer! As you can imagine, choosing a photographer was so important to us - once we saw your work we knew exactly that we wanted you to do it.

We've had so many lovely words from our family and friends about the photos - and what a wonderful guy you are!

So, a huge thank you again. We will treasure them forever!" Charlotte + Mike

Curradine Barns wedding photography - Sophie and Michael

"Hi Ed, We only got round to viewing the gallery late on Christmas Eve but it was well worth the wait; the photos are absolutely stunning! They are such a mixture...beautiful but also fun...we are both so pleased you captured the essence of the day so well. You've done such a brilliant job!

Thank you so much for being a part of our day and giving us photos that we will be proud to share for many years to come." Sophie + Michael

West Mill Derbyshire wedding photography - Rachael and Hayley

I love shooting at the stunning West Mill in Derbyshire. Not only is it just down the road from me in Nottingham, its also one of the most amazing venues to get married at in the UK... it really is a photographers dream... both inside and out!

Rachael and Hayley celebrated their wedding day with family and friends over the festive period, and surprised their guests with a visit from Santa. It was lovely to see the look on all the kids faces when he arrived with presents for them... nice touch guys.

Thanks a million for booking me... it was an awesome day... and I had loads of fun shooting your big day. Looking back at the photos, and seeing that blue sky, you'd think it was summer. But boy oh boy was it cold... BRRR!

"Hi Ed, we've just finished looking through them. They're amazing!!! So nice to relive the day and remember bits I'd forgotten!" - Rachael

Wethele Manor Greek wedding photography - Katerina and Marc

This was my second wedding I'd shot at the beautiful Wethele Manor in Warwickshire. Surrounded by Oak trees, and lovely gardens, this is the perfect venue for a couple looking for a quaint English countryside setting, mixed with buildings full of character and charm (wow! I sound like an estate agent there don't I!")

Katerina and Marc booked me to shoot their Greek wedding after seeing one of my weddings featured on a wedding blog. I love it when couples find me this way. It means that when they contact me I know that they've already seen a wedding I've shot from start to finish... rather than just the odd shot here and there appearing on one of my social media outlets.

As always with Greek weddings, these guys threw one hell of a party in the evening. And I think you'll probably be able to tell from the photos, I certainly made sure I was in the thick of it on the dance floor.

Thanks for booking me guys... and allowing me to document your amazing wedding day.

"We’ve JUST finished going through the USB and are so super happy! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

They’re really amazing and we would (and have) recommend you in a heartbeat for how amazing you’ve been" - Katerina

London engagement/proposal shoot - Jordan and Chris

Even though I've been taking photos for a living for over two decades now, shooting a proposal is something I've never done before!

I got booked by Chris to head down to London to photograph him and his girlfriend Jordan. The shoot took place just after they'd had a meal with family to celebrate them being together as a couple for 10 years. Unlike me, Jordan had no idea Chris was going to propose to her at the end of the shoot.

I love it when I capture people showing their true emotions on a wedding day, so to be able to see the tears and huge smile on Jordan's face when she saw Chris down on one knee, was something pretty special.

I can't wait to photograph you guys getting married in July. More tears and happy faces for the big day please!

2016 - a year in pictures

Well... what a weird year this has been! On a personal note 2016 has been a very emotional year for us.

In August, after a long and testing IVF journey, we welcomed our gorgeous baby boy into the world. And sadly just a few weeks later we lost his Grandad John.

I think you'd have to be made of stone to be a photographer that isn't affected by stuff going on in your personal life, but I also think having a job that allows you to express your feelings can only be a good thing. As I looked through the thousands of images I'd shot this year, one thing stood out for me about this collection of images that is different to previous years, and that was emotions! Whatever has been going on in my own life I've always made sure that the fun, love, and strong connections with family and friends at a wedding is not missed by me and my camera.

Thanks to everyone that has welcomed me into their wedding day this year. I'm really excited about what 2017 has to offer, and can't wait to capture even more special moments.
