NEW ENGLAND Road Trip

Two years ago we travelled to America and got married on a beach in California. It was the most amazing three weeks ever. Not only was the wedding day pretty awesome, but the three week road trip was amazing too. So much so, that last month we decided to head back to the States and do a road trip of the other side of the country we both love so much. We flew into New York, jumped on a train to Boston, then spent a couple of weeks driving around the beautiful scenery of New England.

We met so many lovely people... Enjoyed a couple of early morning runs around Central Park... Spent way too much money in the Levis and Converse stores... Sunk a hell of a lot of root beer, Golden Graham Starbucks, and tasty craft ales... and also ran a half marathon!

Here is a collection of snaps all taken on my iPhone.

By the way... I also shot a lovely couple on Brooklyn Bridge in New York, as well as photographing our day we spent at the amazing Letterpress Things workshop in Chicopee, MA. I'll be blogging all those photos in the next few months.

2015... so far!

2015 has been amazing... so much so that I thought I should do a round-up blog of my favourite photos so far. I normally save this until the end of the year, but with so many images I want to share online, I don't think I'd ever get round to doing a massive post in January. So instead, here's the first instalment.

I'd just like to say a BIG thank you to all the lovely couples that have booked me as their photographer this year. And if I'm still yet to snap your big day this year, then I look forward to seeing you guys again and can't wait to capture lots of special moments on your wedding day.

This year has been an extra-special year for me as its the 20th year I've been working in the photographic industry. This makes me even more grateful to all the cool couples that put their trust in me week after week, and give me the creative freedom to shoot their wedding day in the style I love.

So, until January, which is when I'll post the second half of my 'favourite shots of 2015' blog, enjoy the rest of the summer, and thanks for taking the time to look at this collection of images.

Laura and Joe - a super Sicily wedding

Shooting a wedding in the historic city of Cefalu was a photographers dream! Add into the mix a lovely bride and groom, a stunning wedding dress made by the brides mum, and the most amazing weather, and I'm a happy camper!

Laura and Joe were perfect - they knew exactly the kind of photos they wanted of their wedding, and they just left me to get on with it, and do my thing! They are also one of the kindest couples I've ever met. They were happy to do anything for cool photos, and not only did they treat me like one of the family, they also invited my wife over to the wedding too. This allowed us to spend our wedding anniversary away in the sun, and also have a few days holiday after the wedding.

Laura and Joe, thanks again for asking me to shoot your wedding, and the BBQ on the following day. Your wedding was awesome... and you guys were the best. Both myself and Clare had an amazing time, and were blown away by how generous you were to us during our stay. I loved every minute of your wedding, and choosing my favourite photos for this blog was near impossible... I wanted to post them ALL on here! Their awesome wedding also made it onto the Love My Dress blog!

"WOW WOW WOW! I'm sat at my desk in tears! They are amazing... I couldn’t have dreamt them to be any better!

Me and Joe have looked through the photos literally everyday since we got them, I'm still seeing new things in them and can't get over how incredible they are!

Thanks so much Ed. You have just captured the day and the emotions so well."

Lauren and Jay - a spring wedding in staffordshire

I love it when a couple are happy for me to just grab them whenever I need them for a few photos, and these guys certainly obliged as the weird English weather was throwing up a fair few obstacles for me. I can't remember a wedding I've photographed that had such on/off weather as this one! Glorious sunshine one minute, huge downpours the next. But it really didn't matter, as Lauren and Jay were so easy to photograph, and happy to do whatever we had to.

"Ed, they are all fantastic, we absolutely love them, thank you. You really have captured the whole day with pictures we didn't even realise were being taken!

They all tell a story which is amazing. Thanks so much again for being our photographer we love them."  Lauren + Jay

Laura and dave - a nautical themed wedding in LONDON

There's only one word that sums up Laura and Dave's nautical themed wedding in London... and that's EPIC!

I knew after our awesome pre-wedding shoot down in Portsmouth that I was going to have lots of fun shooting these guys getting hitched. When I met up with them a few months back in Dave's hometown, we chatted over a beer and a delicious plate of fish n chips, and I found out exactly the kind of photos they wanted from their wedding. It was music to my ears that it was all about capturing the emotion, the fun, the love of the day! Not a total shock to me at all, as they were both very natural in front of the camera, and it was clear to me from hearing their wedding plans that the big day was going to be a chilled out, relaxed celebration.

So the big day came around quickly... and I'm not going to ramble on, I'd rather let the photos do the talking, but what I will say is - Dave, you looked extremely dapper in that suit and wicked chevron tie. Laura, you looked stunning in your corker of a wedding dress, with your colourful tattoos on show. You were both great fun to spend the day with, and the freedom and trust you gave me to shoot your wedding exactly how I like to shoot a wedding, made your wedding day one I shall never forget!

BIG LOVE... and can't wait to catch up with you guys for a few drinks when I'm down in London next.

THIS AWESOME WEDDING WAS ALSO FEATURED ON ROCK N ROLL BRIDE!

Alex and Nick - a sunny Derbyshire wedding in a tipi

"I just wanted to say a big thank you for being our perfect photographer - keeping the formal photos relaxed and fun and for never making Nick and I feel under pressure."

I love Spring weddings. The crisp mornings, the sunny afternoons (sometimes), and the fresh evenings! Luckily for Alex and Nick they struck gold with the weather on their big day last month. Beautiful blue skies for most of the day, followed by a cosy warm tipi reception in the afternoon. And, as you'll see from the photos, it got even hotter when the evening celebrations kicked off and the guests hit the dance floor!

Sarah and Andy - a spring pre wedding shoot in Brighton

Don't be deceived by the gorgeous sunny weather in these photos... it was bloody cold down on Brighton beach. Sarah and Andy were ace though and didn't moan once about the chilly sea breeze. They shivered and went a tad blue in the face... but didn't moan once!

Cheers for braving the cold guys... really looking forward to photographing your big day in June. I promise to bring warmer weather with me!

Jemma and Tom - a sunny Spring pre-wedding shoot in Scarborough

Last week I met up with Jemma, Tom, and their cute pooch Loki. We started off by taking a trip around the stunning Sea Life centre, before letting Loki off the lead and going for a run on the beach. We then finished off the day with a stroll around the streets and the harbour at Scarborough. We were blessed with a stunning Spring day and couldn't have asked for better weather.

Many thanks to Scarborough Sea Life Centre for allowing us to do the shoot.

Lauren & Jay - a misty pre wedding shoot in the Peak District

Earlier this week I met up with Lauren and Jay in the stunning Peak District to snap their pre-wedding shoot. With the rolling hills, dramatic rock formations, spooky woodland areas, and extremely bleak wide open spaces, the Peak District is certainly atmospheric!

We trekked for nearly three hours, stopping every now and again when I spotted a cool backdrop (which was pretty much everywhere!).

After a long walk in the fresh air we found a nearby pub to warm up in. Like so many of my couples that book me to shoot their big day, Lauren and Jay explained to me that they're not after boring group shots, or staged photos from their wedding, just an honest story of the day. In other words... music to my ears!

Lauren and Jay, I can't wait to photograph your wedding in a couple of months, and thanks again for being such good sports on the pre-wedding shoot. Clambering over all those boulders and hills isn't everyones idea of a fun photoshoot, but I'm so glad you guys trusted me when I suggested going to the Peaks.
